One of the most beautiful places in this long country can be found on the shores of Coquimbo. Totoralillo boasts a well-earned reputation as the favorite place for surfers, thanks to its breath-taking waves. It also has a comfortable place to swim and have fun in the water for the whole family.
Located 10 miles south of Coquimbo, Totoralillo’s particular geography makes it simply irresistible. A peninsula divides the town. In the south side of the beach, waves reach heights of 13 feet and include both tubular and right waves. The north side of Totoralillo is a wave-free closed bay. This gives way to a natural lagoon, perfect for the kids to play sports and be safe in the water.
Surf isn't the only sport that you can practice on Totoralillo. Sport fishing is a fun alternative. Here you can trap soles and hakes and save a few dollars on food.
Another attraction resides in the fishing creek. There you can enjoy the seafood right out of the water. Crabs and shrimps are a staple. The cheap prices afford any visitor the chance to have a salty and delicious taste of nature.
If you’re not on a tight budget, Cabins are a good way to enjoy Totoralillo. Located right in the center of the peninsula, these rustic buildings allow you to have one of the greatest panoramas on Chilean shores. Take a photo to impress your friends back home with a vast ocean view.
Be aware that parking lots here are small and expensive compared to the rest of the region. You arrive to Totoralillo from Coquimbo via the Pan-American Highway. Thanks to new pavement, any former road issues are a thing of the past.
Totoralillo is one of the places that you shouldn’t miss if you're in the region of Coquimbo. It’s an experience that keeps visitors coming back for more.
